Hi, my name’s Dale Newberry, the owner of Kawungan Quality Meats in Hervey Bay. I am a fifth-generation butcher and have been in the industry my whole life. We supply all of Hervey Bay, whether it is wholesale or retail.
When we first took Cured on, we only used it for the daily reporting, the maintenance checklist, the management review, and then we stepped over into batch codes. Every ham, every roast beef, every kabana that leaves our shop now has a batch code attached to it from product traceability. And even when auditors came in, they were blown away that a shop of our size is actually playing within the rules of some of the big guys. It’s incredible.
Compliance before, I would use pen and paper with the old day diaries that were provided from AMIC. Biggest headache was doing it on time all the time. Going through the book and making sure things were done the way that the auditors wanted it done. You’d get a system down that you thought was correct and then next auditor would come in and things had slightly moved.
What I like about Cured Compliance is that it absolutely makes it so much easier for us to audit, for us to document. It brings everything into one package.
